Introduced me to laser cut parts. Amazing how smoothly and accurately the gears are cut from thick plywood. One could never match this by hand nor achieve it with die-cutting. I made the mistake of dripping melted candle wax on the gear teeth. When it hardened it formed hard lumps and I had to spend a long time getting it all off. The soft wax supplied is much better. Suggest to remember to wax all the pointy axle ends before assembling, the wells for the axle ends, and the gears, as another reviewer suggested. Carnauba floor wax is a possible alternative if run out. Runs with very little friction, the gears mesh excellently. If one blows on the turbine wheel through a straw it gives high rpm which cycles through the activities in no time. Educational and fun.
Very well made. Instructions are clear and concise and when put together, makes for a great working display piece.
One of the easier ones to assemble. Was fun to do and looks awesome!
Putting this kit together was incredibly enjoyable for me. Once it was all together it worked very nicely. If you like building things, puzzles, or just amazing machines in motion this is a great kit. Once you get it make sure to follow the instructions very carefully, though, in order to make sure all the parts line up. Also be sure to wax the meshing area on gears BEFORE you put it together. This is very important. Aside from following the basic instructions I only had to sand down one tiny bump on a rotating part for it to work flawlessly.
Went together very well, looks super nice and it works so all the dots for this 3d puzzle were ticked perfectly.
