Be a part of the once great era of steam with just a breath of air. The Pneumatic Engine is a small but fully functional example of a steam engine, except it uses air pressure instead of steam to set it in motion. Use an ordinary inflated balloon and watch the pistons and gears chug along just like the locomotive engines of yesteryear. The model comes with a built-in air pressure gauge and two compartments for storage and spare parts.

Perfect gift

I gave this as a gift. He loved it. Was very fun to put together. I just wished I gave a balloon along with it.

Great product for hours of fun!!

This is an excellent product! I ordered it for my 17 yr old son, who plans to be an engineer. I wanted one that was both challenging, yet reasonable. This fit the bill perfectly. He is even now sitting and diligently working on it. He's been at it for about three hours now and almost done. The one negative thus far is that the holes for the toothpick were a bit tight so he employed pliers to help. I love how absorbed he is! I will be buying these again- soon

Very nice kit! You really need really follow the directions and make sure you are pushing all the pieces to make them fit as they are very tight. As long as you follow the measurements in the instructions carefully, you should have no problem. The wood is very sturdy as a little thicker than I am used to. It look a little bit of effort to get the pieces out but they came out pretty cleanly. The toothpicks that hold the pieces together (they work like pins or bolts) were a little tough to get in but they stay really well. I found that using side cutters to trim them after placement gave a nice flush finish. They give you extra toothpicks as well incase some break or you mess up. Overall a really fun little kit. I can't wait to start the Ugears tanker truck I bought!

Very fun project!

I was expecting a lot of difficulty based on some of the other reviews, however, I was able to put this model together without any problems. If you take your time and are careful removing the pieces, you should be fine. I did not break one single part. They are attached with just enough wood left to hold them in place and came off cleanly for me. A couple of hints. Work the pieces from both the top and bottom until it loosens, then you'll see the best way for it to pop out. For those that ended up with a non functioning model, make sure everything moves freely. This means that it must rotate several times when you flick it with your finger. Mine did not work the first time even though it seemed to move freely. I thought freely meant I could rotate it with my fingers. I found the two large back wheels were binding a bit and squeezed them together so there was no friction at the two ends. After that it moved very freely and would rotate 6-8 times on a single flick of my finger. Once that was fixed I gave it a flick to start it and simply blew into the opening and it ran as fast and long as my breath would hold out. Though I didn't have a balloon, I have no question that it would work fine with that as well. All in all I thought this was a very well made model and was a lot of fun to put together.
